Pulp & Paper Energy Audit

Paper manufacturing is energy-intensive: up to 30 % of the total cost of paper production is associated with energy consumption. The major energy inputs required are process heat provided by steam, and electricity. Of this total energy consumption steam contributes about 75-85 %.

The major processes in papermaking are:

Raw material preparation
Pulp making and processing
Papermaking
Paper finishing

Steam is required in pulping process, papermaking process, whereas electricity is mainly consumed to run pumps and rollers in papermaking.

Many opportunities exist in the paper manufacturing to reduce steam and electricity consumption, thus reducing energy bills. Some of the energy saving measures that can be implemented are given below.

NAINI PAPER

Naini Group of Industries has been the torchbearer for innovation and great business ethics in the paper industry. Its visionary chairman, Mr. Pramod Kumar Agarwal founded Naini Group in 1982, with its maiden venture a mill and wheat & paddy seed processing plant. In 1989, the group commissioned country’s first edible oil refinery using physical processes to convert non-edible oil into edible oil.
We have conducted the Energy Audit of Naini Papers Ltd, Kashipur in 2018. The Management of the plant was very keen to implement the Energy Saving Measures. The total annual Cumulative bill for all the areas of the plant is Rs. 6443.6 Lakhs. The Energy conservation measures proposed under our Energy Audit will reduce it by 18 % with Annual Money Saving will be around Rs. 446.53 Lakhs.

The annual Energy Cost Rs. 6141.22 Lakhs. The Energy conservation measures proposed under our Energy Audit will reduce it by 13 % with Annual Money Saving will be around Rs. 542.73 Lakhs.

We have conducted the Energy Audit in 2017. They have actively implemted the Energy Saving projects immediately after our Audit.
